My Journey
From Rome to the Inner Path

Hi, I’m Lidiya.
Born in Bulgaria, raised in Rome, and forever moved by the search for freedom — not just the kind you find outside, but the deep, expansive kind that starts within.
For years, I worked in cultural projects and later in the travel industry, where I learned the real value of people and the true freedom that travel can offer.
At the same time, my love for psychology pushed me to explore deeper questions: What really matters? How do I want to feel? What kind of life brings peace in a world that moves so fast?
Those questions gave me the courage to change everything:
I left my steady job, my city, and many of the roles and rhythms I no longer resonated with.
India was calling — and I listened.
The Path to Yoga
I arrived in India not just to visit, but to reconnect — with my body, with silence, and with something bigger. I knew that mental understanding alone wasn’t enough.
So, I began with a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat, guided by a dear Indian friend.
That experience opened something in me — a new way of being.
I spent several months living in an ashram, and eventually returned multiple times. There, I experienced yoga not as exercise, but as a way of life:
Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti, Jnana, Kriya… all woven into daily practice.
It wasn’t just something I did — it became who I was.
Since then, I’ve continued studying in ashrams around India, completing three teacher trainings in places like Rishikesh and Mumbai, and becoming a certified yoga teacher.

Teaching & Sharing

At first, I taught yoga to friends and family — and then slowly, something bigger grew.
Today, I live part of the year on a small tropical island in Thailand, where I guide yoga sessions, and create spaces for people to reconnect with themselves.
SomaWander was born from this journey — a fusion of movement, presence, travel, and soul.
It’s a place for those who are curious, open, and longing to feel more alive.
Through yoga and mindful travel, I hope to offer you what helped me most:
-
Space for your body
-
Silence for your thoughts
-
A map back to your inner self
Wherever you are — you’re welcome here.
Namaste
